ToK Essay Claims and Counterclaims

IB Attribute: Balanced

Prescribed Title #3
“Labels are a necessity in the organization of knowledge, but they also constrain our understanding.” Discuss this statement with reference to two areas of knowledge.

ToK: Educación

Claim #1

There is no unprecedented knowledge; all information acquired has a root in something else.

Counterclaim #1

Counterclaim: there is and forever will be unknown things to discover. Physics: The Standard Model still fails to explain our world completely, living room for new discovery which could very well be unprecedented.

Claim #2

While all information has some form of precedent, it is not always available to the individual because there is a permanent distinction between shared and personal knowledge. Evidenced by Einstein’s energy equation.

Counterclaim #2

Our world is hyperglobalized, meaning that there are no longer significant impediments for knowledge to break the boundaries between shared and personal knowledge.
